Had the first BBQ of the season last night. I thought we should kick it off right, so I made potato salad, pasta salad, cut up a watermelon, and make my first vanilla cupcakes! (crazy, right?) They were a little dense for me, but everyone seemed to like them. Also- (drum roll please) I think I am officially going to stop being a vegetarian for now. I even ate half a hamburger last night.




The weather is so so SO beautiful. My front and back doors are both open right now, and i planted some herbs/veggies/flowers 1 week ago, and they are already sprouting! Success!




Also- this guy makes me pretty happy :)

yes, that is my brother. BUT- there is also a photographer by the same name (weird) who takes such lovely portraits. I tried to pick my favorite ones, but I loved them all too much. You should just go flip through his portfolio. While talking to Haley about wedding photography, i mentioned that the style of photography i like is typically done by non-wedding photographers, and how I would probably ask someone like that to shoot my wedding. Nicholas Haggard- I would ask you!

summer's coming!

So many fun things happening in the next several months, that I am really excited for. This weekend coming up is the 16th annual Cherokee Indian Festival here in Philly. Ryan has some books on how to make moccasins, so we're going to try and make some.



At least 1 trip to Knoebels this summer, going to make it to the shore for the first time hopefully, and lots of bbq's, craft nights, and bike rides. eeeeeeeeeee!

ok last post for today..

My life has been pretty magical lately. I've been using that word alot- to describe how I feel. I saw this today, and it made me smile- and wanted to share it..i think it's perfect for me and my magical beb. This one's for you! You make life so magical. <3

I am back form Italy- and had a really great time. I flew into Milan, and then took a train to Florence, where I met up with Laura. Her apartment was so cute, and we spent a fair amount of time out on her terrace. We did alot of walking around, and hanging out. It was a nice and relaxed trip. We did go to Cinque Terre for a night, and hiked some, and spent a day on the beach (i may have gotten a little too much sun). Every single thing I ate was delicious, and we got gelato several times. Wine at every meal- and it was sooo yummy. I baked a good old fashion american chocolate cake for the girls while I was there, because they had just finished their last semester. So when I think about buying a house- i mostly dream about the kitchen. Because I love to cook and bake, I want to have an awesome kitchen. Parusing some of my favorite blogs over the past few years, I've collected quite a few inspirational photos of kitchens I adore.

my best friend is getting married!

I met Haley 2 Octoberishes ago. She started working at Urban, and through Marla Hansen, we became friends. When she was living in DE, we had haley-lana tuesdays every week, and we'd have a slumber party, and hang out. She decided to move to Philly- and I needed to find a roomate, so we got our cute little house on Montgomery ave. It's almost been a year of living together, and I cannot even tell you what an amazing year it has been. (im getting teary eyed thinking about it) Haley has become one of my most trusted friends. Haley and I can have fun together, be silly together, we enjoy doing so many of the same things, but she is also there for me when it seems like my world is falling apart. She is ever encouraging, and even when I'm doing stupid silly things- she keeps me accountable, and loves me through it all. She is always helping me to grow in my relationship with God, and teaching me how to love. She is kind and thoughtful, and forgiving, and sweet. She is funny, honest, and SO CREATIVE, and not to mention the most adorable girl.

She met a boy one day, and I got to watch her go from kinda hanging out with him- to completely falling head over heels in love with him. One of my favorite things in the whole entire world is hearing her laugh- and Jason makes her laugh so much. I love hearing her giggle for hours and hours when I'm in my room, and they're downstairs. Last weekend Jason proposed to Haley, and now my best friend is getting married!!! I am so so SO happy that I've gotten to be a part of their lives this far, and am looking forward to being a part of it for the rest of my life! They are an amazingly, awesome, adorable couple- and I am so excited that they get to share the rest of their lives together! Congratulations Jason and Haley- I'm glad you'll only be down the street.

lofts & warehouses

I want to own a house this year. It was a goal of mine last year- that I realized I needed a bit more time to accomplish- so it's on for this year. I'm hemming and hawing on if I want to buy a row home; standard, traditional Philly style house, or do I want to buy an old warehouse space, and live in a big loft..I've been looking at several of both, and i'm pretty much split down the middle. The loft idea comes with other plans- which I'll have to explain later, but includes a business venture that haley and I are going to pursue over the next couple of years. Look at all these amazing lofts though, it totally is swaying me to that side..

I'm skipping out for a week, going to Italy, and will be back next Monday. I am kind of having serious anxiety about it right now. I'm going alone- which I never thought about til last week. I also have about 1.5 million things to do in the next 3.5 hours. Why am I blogging? byeeeeeeeeeeee
